When you think about Christmas, I’m sure you think about presents, family, Santa, and of course snow. Some people think snow is important on Christmas, and others don’t really care. When you have snow on Christmas, it is called a “White Christmas”. Here in Illinois we don’t get those very often and climate change also takes effect on the amount of snow we get each year. It is shown we have left snow and not many white Christmas’. In my opinion snow is a key factor in the winter and I love when it snows. However, if it snows, it needs to be a good amount for it to actually stay on the ground and stick, if it is just like an inch of snow, it’ll just melt and produce ice and slush which I do not like. When it snows, I like to shovel, go sledding, play with my friends and ride my four-wheeler. I have always wanted a White Christmas where it snows 5+ inches and really get me in the Christmas spirit. Snow is one of my favorite things about winter because it brings me a different kind of joy and peace. Seeing snow on the ground makes me happy. However, some others do not like snow in the winter. “Every other day I hate snow, I hate ice, I love the cold but I hate that stuff,” said Mr. Buckley.
I asked Michael Hickey and Mr. Buckley about how they would feel about a White Christmas.
“Of course, I really only want snow two days a year, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, those are like my favorite days for snow,” said Mr. Buckley.
I followed up asking how it would make him feel if we do have a White Christmas, whether it is now or in the future.
“Extremely happy, makes me feel of a time like my childhood, where Christmas was a magical time of the year… I want a White Christmas, it makes me feel of Nostalgic times,” said Mr. Buckley.
Michael Hickey had the same outlook as Mr. Buckley, saying, “I think that’s really cool and I’ve always wanted to see one.”
“You know I’d really enjoy a White Christmas, it would just set the mood for Christmas and just make it much more enjoyable.”
With climate change obviously being a problems in today’s world, I asked Mr. Buckley if snow levels have changed since his childhood.
“Oh for sure, when I was younger there was always snow all the time but now there’s not as much, that’s because of climate change dang it… the world is getting warming meaning lees snow.”
Based on Mr. Buckley, and Michael Hickey, they agree that having a White Christmas would be nostalgic and bring a great feeling to Christmas.
In conclusion, snow is great on Christmas!
