Rochester High School is currently entering its third week of the playoffs. They will be playing SHG on Saturday, November 15th. This is the second time they will play SHG this year, the first time Rochester was victorious, and the hope is that they will be victorious again!
In the first round, Rochester played against the Taylorville Tornadoes. They beat them in a huge blowout. The person who helped carve the way to such a big win was Khobin Gregory. He had to return plays against them for touchdowns. One of which even went for 99 yards. I asked Korhbin how he was feeling about the season so far, and he said, “I am proud of everyone on the team for contributing to the success of the team.” I also asked him how he felt about his performance so far, and he replied with “I think I performed well but it could’ve been better.”

The second round was against the Waterloo Bulldogs, and it was another blowout game. Overall, the whole team did pretty well in that game. Last year, Rochester lost to Quincy Notre Dame in the first round of the playoffs. The reason I mention that is because the Waterloo Bulldogs and QND run the same type of offense. It’s referred to as Wing-T, and Waterloo was a great opportunity to show that they can defend a team using this style of offense.
This year, the team has numerous great players, but only two of them have had the opportunity to make all-state. Connor Broughton and Kaiden Stout both performed exceedingly well at their positions. Kaiden Stout is a running back, and Connor is a defensive end, but he also has opportunities to make plays on offense as a tight end. I interviewed them both on where they think the team is headed and how they feel about their performances. Connor’s response to the first question was, “I think we’ve done really well as a team this year, lifting in gain ready to know the plays,” and to the second, he said, “I think I personally have performed very well on both sides of the ball’

When interviewing Kaiden, he said,”I personally think I have performed very well. I think I’ve done good at making big plays which is nice for me but most importantly the team when we need it. ”
