Changed Desires
Everyone wants at least something for Christmas, whether that be a toy, a video game/console, or even clothes. However, eventually your wants change, your old desires die, and new ones emerge. When does this happen? Let’s find out by asking a few people a few questions.
Adult
The adult is Lidseny Conder, who, as a kid, said, “I wanted everything Barbie, but now as an adult, I want things that are functional, things that I’m going to use that will make my life easier because I’m busy.” Said Lindsey.
Most kids don’t want clothes, and she is no different. After she said, “Uh, no, actually. I get really mad if I got those up until fifth grade, and I discovered what “Limited Tea” was.”
Teenagers, on the other hand, are more mature, so they want different things, according to Lindsey’s words, “Probably those CDs, things to organize my CDs. They had these awesome little cute things. You’d push a button, and it opens, and then you click what number you want, and your CD would pop out.”
Then finally, adults want different things as well, but normally much more expensive, “Right now? A five-day trip to Bora Bora.” Then, as an item, “On my Christmas list this year is a coat rack, for the office, for my stuff,” Said Lindsey.
Teenagers
The two Teenagers in question are Mason Dye and Zachary Dart, two freshmen who were willing to do the interview.
Mason was very clear about what he wanted for Christmas as a Teen, “Money, just flat out money. Money is all I want.” Said Mason.
“If I got clothes, I’d be like, pretty mad. Especially as a teenager, when I got Batman Pajamas.” Mason said.
Zachary Dart, another freshman, was very clear as well about what he normally wants for Christmas, “I want like electronics, such as video games, consoles like when the Nintendo Switch came out, I wanted that. That’s mostly what I want.” Said Zachary.
“When I get clothes? I usually don’t mind. I don’t get a lot of clothes for Christmas, so that’s why. I normally get them from like my Aunts. When it’s like comfy pajama pants, I like that.” Zachary said, indifferent to getting clothing even when he was little.
Zachary also had very, very clear preferences as a child: “I always wanted things like the Thomas the Train Toys. CHOO CHOO!. I wanted toys, mostly just toys.” Said Zachary. When it comes to now, “Now? Not as much, not even really figurines or anything like that. I mainly want electronics now.” Said Zachary. His stance has clearly changed since he was a little kid.
Conclusion
Over time, people change, they grow, their interests change, and nothing ever stays the same. This includes what they want in life, such as gifts. Their desires will change, and that’s what’s important, because it shows growth as a person. They will always be a point where your first desires may perish, and new ones take their place. It’s merely a change in desires.
