As the season changes from summer to fall, Rochester’s students are doing some of their favorite things. From drinking pumpkin chai lattes to going to football games, and most importantly, spending time with your family during the holidays. Let’s see what some of the Rochester students have to say about their favorite things about fall and their favorite activities.
Holidays
Rochester students only mentioned 2 out of the many holidays in the fall; those holidays were Halloween and Thanksgiving; the majority picked Thanksgiving, though. The reason was that they like watching football, all of their family traditions, and eating all the really good food. The people who picked Halloween chose it because they love dressing up, having fun with friends, and especially getting candy.
Activities
Fall has so many different fun activities, and everyone has such great things that they like to do. Most people said that they like to carve pumpkins with their friends and family. A few others said they spend their free time just staying indoors and lying around, doing homework or watching scary movies. Cash Coker said, “I like to stay indoors.” Then, when I asked what he does when he is lying around inside, he stated, “I sleep.” We also had a few family traditions that people talked about. Like Dane Clark smashes pumpkins every year with his family, and he said that is his favorite thing to do. Another common thing said was enjoying the nice weather and dressing for it. Lillian Babiak said, “I love dressing up in leggings and sweatshirts.”
Places to go
Almost everyone said that one of their favorite things to do is go to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins, eat all the good food, and go through the corn mazes. It is also a great way to spend time with your family. Reese Anderson said, “My favorite thing to do during the fall is go to pumpkin patches and spend time with my family.” Boo Crew is also another place that everyone said they love going to with their friends. Danicka Chrisrman said, “I would say that my favorite fall activity is going to boo crew with my friends, and I would say I spend a lot of time at pumpkin patches.”
Pumpkin or Apple
Pumpkins and apples are easily two of the most common fall flavors and scents. When I asked everyone what they liked better, it was a tie. Four people chose pumpkin and four chose apple, but one person chose both, and they had a good point about why they did. When Babiak was asked the question, “Do you prefer apple things or pumpkin things?” She answered, “Well, it depends. I would much rather have a pumpkin pie over an apple pie, but I would much rather eat apples than a pumpkin.” Which is a completely valid response.
Food and Drinks
During the fall, there is a variety of seasonal foods and drinks. Anything from Starbucks drinks to traditional Thanksgiving foods. The most popular items mentioned were pumpkin chai lattes and fall sugar cookies. There were also a lot of other really good things said, like apple cider donuts, caramel apples, pumpkin bread, turkey, and stuffing. People were also saying some traditional foods that they have every Thanksgiving. Things like loaded potatoes, chilli, and ice cream.
Fall has many different fun things to do, and the Rochester students have some good ideas on what to do during this season. Whether it’s going to pumpkin patches, exploding pumpkins, going to Boo Crew, or spending time with your family on Thanksgiving.
